Throughout your “business” life, you learn a lot of skills to help you in the business you work for. These skills are applicable to your career development.
Businesses even have programs called “Career Development Programs”.
I wonder why we distinguish between your career and the rest of your life.
You have a set of skills for work and a set of skills for life, but these do not cross over.
Life isn’t like that though. The skills we learn at work can be applied to life and vice versa.
Why then, don’t businesses provide employees with “Life Development Programs”?. Wouldn’t employees be more loyal if you offered training that they could use during all aspects of their life?
Once everyone starts to understand that a “career” is one aspect of life and not some other separate life, then maybe we can start developing better human beings.
